Author Guidelines
Instructions for Authors
Enterprise Development and Microfinance (EDM) is a peer-reviewed journal publishing original research and practice-based insights on enterprise development, inclusive finance, and development policy. Submissions should contribute to the field and interest both researchers and practitioners.
1. Scope and Focus Areas
We welcome original manuscripts in areas including:
- Microfinance and financial inclusion
- Social enterprise and SME development
- Livelihood strategies and the informal economy
- Women's economic empowerment
- Enterprise policy and rural development
- Market systems and value chains
- Digital finance and fintech in development
- Monitoring, evaluation, and impact studies
2. Article Types Accepted

3. Manuscript Submission Guidelines
- File format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
- Spacing: Double-spaced
- Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm)
- Language: English (UK preferred)
Required sections: Title Page, Abstract (150–250 words), Keywords (5–7), Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References, Acknowledgements, and Appendices (if applicable).
4. Referencing Style (APA 7th Edition)
In-text: (Smith, 2021); (Jones & Taylor, 2020)
Reference List: Smith, A. (2021). Enterprise innovation and microfinance. Oxford University Press.
5. Ethical Considerations
- All work must be original and properly cited.
- Ethics approval is required for studies involving human subjects.
- EDM adheres to COPE guidelines.
6. Peer Review Process
All submissions are subject to a double-blind peer review. Initial decisions are typically provided within 6–8 weeks.
7. Open Access and Article Processing Charges
EDM offers optional Open Access publication. Article Processing Charges (APCs) for Open Access Publishing upon request. No submission fee is charged. Article Processing charges are 500 USD. There is no APC if articles are published in subscription mode.

Manuscripts should be submitted via the EDM submission portal
9. Post-Acceptance and Publication
- Proofs will be provided for author approval before publication.
- Articles will be published online ahead of print where applicable.
- Authors receive a complimentary PDF of their article.
